Summmmmmmer’s up

The summer had sun! The Solstice passed in its shimmering light; Welcome Cancer, Leo, Virgo seasons; The Boss even managed a trip to Italy?! When the sun’s been out between the clouds, we’ve slung out our summer drinks: our iced ginger lemonade is a mouthy treatment for these occasional hot days. This means we’ve pushed out a 50% discount rail onto the street with some stunning dresses and other garments that we just have to say goodbye to cos’ our stockroom is a busy place and there’s only so much beauty we can handle! The rest is up to you, all garms must go go go, so come down and snatch them away from us while they’re out there in the sun. First things first in our hopper is this dessert-y Brazilian Natural Bourbon from Girls Who Grind [our staples, our guiding lights]. Part of the AMAM association you’re as ever supporting women in their livelihoods and supporting their families directly. There’s also some very exciting news coming in July, but we can’t say anything yet, but it involves scoops, but yeah that’s your scoop. So follow your nose!

We wanted to formally introduce you to our BAMBINO aisle. Our curated, cute, cuddly, colourful range for children or well your Bambini. A whole range of vintage toys, clothes and cuteness alongside new, independent designers and collaborators. Our famous rocking horse is long gone, but was the gift that gave us the idea. We’ve blankets, comforters, rattles, and all sorts of kids decor! There’s also some gorgeous lifetime(maybe not in the grubby mittens) paper animal balloons from Petra Boase. We think the Elephant is one of the cutest babies we’ve seen! There are these stunning blankets from Sophie Home. Their 100% cotton knit blankets are gorg and they donate 5% of profits to Choose Love, a global aid initiative supporting over 150 projects and a million displaced people worldwide. The sweet rattlers, in the wrong hands, might be a nuisance but they too are be-you-ti-ful! We’ve got some wee rabbits and zebras in the shop waiting to be shaken by the Bambinis; to add to the comfort we’re also stocking a couple of their cuddle cloths: the wee dogs and rabbits. They’ve got all the twisty, cosy corners these mini mouths and fingers need!

Our BBQ season is here and to compliment, or blow away rather, your charred, complex onions and peppers and marshmallows [maybe not, though never say never] we’ve got some dangerous hot sauces and jams from Trodden Black on our shelves for this summery season. They’re all produced in the new hot sauce capital Dollar and to quote them there’s “Nae Additives, Nae Thickeners, Nae water, Nae crap.” Their Dead Hot sauces we’re stocking are delish: we’ve got the Pineapple, the Beetroot and the beloved Bloody Mary waiting for whichever way you take it. If that’s not your thing, might not be, the altogether less intrusive or sneaky chilli jams are still a hoot on the tongue: the Original Red is a winner and the slightly more fruity Killer Ki Lime a keeper. We love these sauces and jams for their unconventional flavour pairings and commitment to undiluted batches that pack the hottest punch and as always they are pretty local. Our FAV.

So long farewell adieu we see you in sunnier autumn, same time, same place. Oh oh! We are open every day 11-6 EXCEPT TUESDAY, so please come and chat to us, especially with Doggos and the Bambinis!!!
