This Halloween, no tricks…just treats

AHHHHHHHHHH. BOOOOOOOOO. EARTH. AIR. FIRE. WATER.

When you pop in to trick or treat us this halloween, we’ll only have treats for you. We are not interested in tricks; all our time goes into treats and vintage and the best halloween costumes. We were wondering what to chat about after watching The Craft, oooooh, for the first time in a spooky while. It’s been a pretty October until all the cobwebs appeared, we’ve been charging on with great coffee and redefining our identity as a witchy Glasgow vintage shop by casting spells on you when you come in, and nobody’s noticed so far! We whisper: “Now is the time, this is the hour, ours is the magic, ours is the power” :P Then you leave and we hope you come back. To try and keep you under the spell here’s some gift ideas for halloween and further, like Christmas gifts or birthday gifts, or just gifts for everyday of the year!

Heist - Beastly Bakewell

THIS is a very special limited edition bar with white choco and cherry; one half is loaded with roasted almonds to be that proper Bakewell tart experience. Heist get better with every bar. Slinging bean to bar from their mini-factory in Cardiff, they compliment our best flat white so well.

Their website is also a lovely resource, so if you want to mix eating independent chocolate with guilt-learning, then you can learn about the fascinating process of chocolate production. Much like the more recent turn to traceability and transparency in specialty coffee, it’s spirited to see Heist doing it for specialty small-batch chocolate.

Girls Who Grind – OH MY GOTH!

Oh so gorgeous, but terrible double bill Brazil blend from roasters Girls Who Grind. This chocolatey, fudgy, almondy Goth Girl is the perfect halloween treat for a summoning coffee lover. If you’ve been past before, here or irl, then you know all about Girls Who Grind, what they do and how they do it. Everything they touch is for and by women; they source only through female farmer coops across the globe and employ only women; and let’s admit, they hit hard and heavy with their ever stunning branding and design; we can all pretend we’re all about the best beans and coffee but sometimes you can just say it, sometimes we like the packaging. Although, Girls Who Grind do both so well. Top. Quality. Spook.

Juno General Storelimited jars of the pumpkin spiced apple butter

Autumn in a jar - it could be delicious on pancakes or in porridge or with a spoon straight out of the jar or it’s also the perfect present for your favourite foodie.

These are all small batch— very limited—super-seasonal preserves made in Glasgow's Southside; they can’t get any more local! They go by Juno General Store on insta and are always shifting and changing duh with the fruit and combos they try out. They’ve only stockists in Glasgow and Aberdeen, but they do rounds on Glasgow’s food markets too. The next time you’re on the hunt for gifts, then Juno can’t be missed.

One of our special drinks : The Carda-Mummy

This witch >> has switched from Flat Whites to our Carda-mummy, just for a while, before she flies off or disintegrates and comes back as santa in a few months time. We’re always brewing alternatives to great coffee in Strathbungo, so here you can have a freaky sort of white choco almost chai. It’s sweet, warming, spicy and totally unscary actually now we think of it, but not everything has to be scary right? Right? It’s a concoction of white chocolate, a lasting steep and swirl of Cardomom, salt and steamed with your choice of milk: oat, coconut, soya, cow’s milk. When we admit that not everything is about coffee, we do do it well don’t we?

All these treats above are available in the shop; they’re waiting for your spell to be cast. But we can leave you proper with the decisive, maybe exposing, question: which episode of Buffy was the the the the best? We’ve always thought the uber scary Gentlemen episode was one of the best, but then there’s Giles singing in the musical and then we can’t decide anymore.

IF you want to tell us, then we’re open 11-6 Wednesday through Monday, for all your local coffee and vintage needs in the gorgeous city of Glasgow.
